Skinner Nurseries Donates Plant Material to Katrina Memorial
Skinner Nurseries donated over 1,500 plants to the Katrina Memorial in Biloxi, MS, whose construction recently aired on ABC’s “Extreme Make-Over: Home Edition.” The granite wall titled “Katrina” engraved with the date “August 29, 2005” stands 12 feet tall and symbolizes the height of Hurricane Katrina’s powerful tidal surge. At the base of the granite wall is a sculpture encased in glass. This sculpture is made of personal keepsakes donated by victims of Hurricane Katrina. The memorial is beautifully landscaped with Mondo Grass, Sasanqua Camellias, Azaleas, Live Oaks and Nellie R. Stevens Hollies.
“It is truly an honor and privilege to help restore beauty in an area that has been so deeply ravaged by the worst natural disaster in US history. We hope the memorial helps speed the healing and rebuilding process,” stated Kevin Van Dyke, President of Skinner Nurseries.
Skinner Nurseries provides a wide range of plant material from annual color, shrubs, large trees, and palms to a full line of hardlines, including mulch and soil. Skinner Nurseries is the leading supplier of green goods in the South with 22 distribution centers and 2 farms strategically located throughout the southeast.
