SKINNER NURSERIES HIRES DOCTOR OF PLANT MEDICINE

Bunnell, Florida – Skinner Nurseries is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Javier Garces, a Plant Health Specialist who recently graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in General Horticulture and Doctor of Plant Medicine. UF is the only University in the country to offer the Doctor of Plant Medicine degree and Javier was in the very first DPM graduating class.

In describing the extraordinary education program, Javier paralleled the Doctor of Plant Medicine to the “MD” or “DDS” doctor, who are the “practitioners” in the medicinal field, as opposed to the PhD doctorates, such as Pathologists or Entomologists, whose primary function is research. Javier’s responsibilities will include defining the technical specifications for growing products, measuring benchmark parameters, and monitoring all aspects of production related to plant health as part of a repeatable horticultural “manufacturing” process.
