SKINNER NURSERIES SPONSORS URBAN PLANTINGS WORKSHOP

Crescent City, Florida – On February 21, 2003 Skinner Nurseries sponsored an educational event entitled “The Urban Plantings Workshop”. The main speaker was Dr. Ed Gilman from the University of Florida who discussed site design and selecting, planting and maintaining trees for Urban Landscapes. Larry Henry, Gary Lee, Matt McCutcheon and Kent Pletcher – all employees of Skinner Nurseries – also held outdoor lectures and demonstrations. Attended by forty-eight landscape professionals, the workshop was held at Skinner Nurseries’ Crescent City farm.

In addition to receiving continuing education credit for the event, attendees were able to tour the nursery and view the operations of a large container tree farm. The Crescent nursery encompasses 650 acres and grows trees such as Oak, Holly, Magnolia, and Crepe Myrtle in sizes ranging from 30 to 300 gallon. Comments from attendees included “Great to see this behind-thescenes stuff. Excellent! Great location – great hosts.” Skinner Nurseries, one of the fastest growing nurseries in the Southeast, plans to host similar events in the future. "We are committed to serving the needs of Landscape Architects and are proud to have the opportunity to put on this event. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the architectural community,” commented Andy Etters, Marketing Manager with Skinner Nurseries.
