Sundance Wholesale Nursery Joins Skinner Nurseries
Carrollton, Tx., April 23, 2001 - Skinner Nurseries, Jacksonville Florida, has acquired the assets of Sundance Wholesale Nursery, LLC of Carrollton, Texas. The acquisition is part of the strategy of Skinner Nurseries to operate Landscape Distribution Centers across the South and continue to be the leading source of plant material for the landscape construction industry.
"We are very excited about adding Sundance to the Skinners Distribution family. Lance Martin, the former owner of Sundance, has built quite a reputation for service and quality. We are fortunate Lance has agreed to continue to run the business for us. Our plan is to help Lance take the business to even higher levels," says Russell Skinner, President of Skinner Nurseries.
The acquisition gives Skinner Nurseries two Landscape Distribution Centers in Texas. Their Houston center has been serving landscape contractors in South Texas since 1995.
"Joining Skinners will allow me to continue to grow the business and better service my customers. It will add resources and capabilities to ensure that our operation is competitive and successful for the long term," says Lance Martin.
The center will continue to operate at Sundance's current location in Carrollton at 4912-A Dozier Road and remain under the management of Lance Martin. The name was changed to Skinners Nursery of Dallas, Inc. upon the closing of the purchase. This location will be the newest of six distribution centers owned and operated by Skinner Nurseries.
"We will add a couple of salespersons and delivery vehicles to the operation. We will also expand the inventory with more trees and larger material to improve Lance's ability to be a one-stop supplier for the Dallas Metroplex," adds Kevin Van Dyke, COO of Skinner Nurseries.
